A “media blitz” to support the WE CARE Festival

I first heard about the WE CARE festival from my good friend Pierre Green who is an assistant minister at 5th Street Baptist Church. He explained that the acronym stood for Wellness, Education, Community Awareness and Resident Empowerment. After hearing about the benefits of the community I knew Marks & Harrison would want to be involved.

The festival, which is organized by the Fifth Street Baptist Church draws hundreds of residents from Highland Park and the surrounding neighborhoods in Richmond’s Northside. First African Baptist, Fresh Anointing Cathedral, First Union Baptist Church and the City of Richmond Recreation & Parks’ Hotchkiss Community Center City also help put on this great event.

This year, for the first time, I worked with the festival organizer, Craig Watson, to help get the word out about WE CARE through local Richmond media. Craig and I met with TV and radio stations to talk a little about the event and encourage Richmonders to attend.

WRIC TV-8, CBS-6 Clear Channel radio stations and Praise 104.7 FM all ran stories about the event and Marks & Harrison’s involvement. I want to thank them again for the great coverage and publicity!

If you have a moment, please check out Antoinette Essa from CBS-6 highlighting WE CARE for her weekly A-List segment, here.

You can also find some pictures on the WTVR website with a follow-up interview with Craig.

The Times Dispatch also covered the event on their website.
