On September 22, Marks & Harrison participated in Hopewell’s 33rd annual Hooray for Hopewell festival. The weekend-long event in downtown Hopewell includes children’s activities, arts and crafts vendors, music, food, and entertainment in a setting where nonprofits and local organizations get together to celebrate the community. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend this fabulous event!
At the Marks & Harrison booth, we offered families free child identification kits. This is the second year we’ve offered these kits. They are a great way for parents to keep vital information on-file at home about their children. The kit includes fingerprinting, a DNA sample, and specific identifying information about the child. A completed child identification kit helps to ensure a child’s identity is easily traced in case of an emergency.
Kate Hall was nice enough to include Hooray for Hopewell and the Marks & Harrison Child ID Kits in her round up of Fun This Week at Richmondmom.com. Thanks, Kate!
By the end of the day, our team distributed 150 kits, as well as gave away 500 bottles of water. Special thanks to Tonda Huddleston, Keith Schilke, Aaron Barr, Vickie Turner, Evelyn Rivera, Greg Hooe, and Shawna Griffith for helping out preparing for the festival and volunteering at our booth.
We always love events like Hooray for Hopewell where we can see old friends, meet new ones, and get to visit with families in the community we serve every day. If you’re interested in picking up a child identification kit for your child, visit our booth at the upcoming City Point 5k on Saturday, October 27. Make sure you ask for Lori Smith (that’s me!) so we can meet in-person. Or you can always drop by our office: 2141 East Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23836.
